Assistant Professor of Marine or Coastal Toxicology. This is an academic year (9-month), Assistant Professor tenure-track position with teaching, research, outreach/engagement and service responsibilities and includes the expectation that the appointee will conduct mission-oriented research and outreach/engagement of relevance to the California Agricultural Experiment Station (https://caes.ucdavis.edu/research/aes). The successful candidate will be a member of the Department of Environmental Toxicology and will be housed at Bodega Marine Laboratory (BML). This position is part of a hiring initiative at BML and is being coordinated through the Coastal and Marine Sciences Institute (CMSI) with two other positions, one in marine ecology and the other in coastal aquaculture systems science.
Responsibilities: The Department of Environmental Toxicology is seeking applicants that focus on areas relevant to marine or coastal toxicology. The appointee is expected to establish a competitively funded research program to address critical or emerging issues in Environmental Toxicology. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in undergraduate and graduate programs, and should be committed to mentoring and fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion. Teaching will include courses appropriate to the candidate's area of expertise, with some of the teaching to be based at the marine laboratory and some on the main campus in Davis. Participation in and development of outreach/engagement programs, and performance of departmental and university service is expected. This position is expected to collaborate with extension educators and partners in allied industries.
Qualifications: Ph.D. or equivalent degree in the chemistry, biochemistry, toxicology, molecular biology, biological chemistry, marine science, or a related field at the time of appointment. Post-doctoral experience is preferred. Evidence of research excellence is expected. The candidate should have the ability to develop and instruct undergraduate and graduate courses and the ability to develop and conduct extramurally funded research in fields related to environmental chemistry and toxicology.
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
