Rush University Medical Center presents an exciting opportunity for an Acute CareNurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to work in our Emergency Medicinedepartment .
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a licensed physician assistant (PA) or advanced practice nurse (APN) who functions as a member of the health care team to provide high quality, comprehensive acute and/or routine medical/surgical care of Rush University Medical Center patients within the scope of practice granted in accordance with the RUMC medical staff bylaws. The APP will promote collaboration between multiple disciplines to ensure cost effective and quality patient care. The individual who holds this position will exemplify the Rush mission, vision and values and act in accordance with the policies, procedures, guidelines of Rush, including the Rush University Medical Group Customer Service standards. Successful candidates will also meet all other state and federal regulatory practice and accreditation standards.
Complete and document an accurate patient history and physical examinations.
Conduct comprehensive or episodic health assessments and develops patient care plans.
Order and interpret tests, treatments, and therapies within the scope of practice.
Prescribe medication, including controlled substances as delegated in collaborative practice agreement.
Order, interpret, and perform laboratory and other diagnostic tests and procedures.
Provide clear, concise, and accurate information in the electronic medical record.
Demonstrate advanced critical thinking in the care and management of patients.
Initiate and perform consultations in accordance with Rush rules and regulations.
Make appropriate referrals to other health care professionals and/or agencies.
Provide direct patient care in assigned areas, which may be in a hospital or ambulatory setting.
Manage admitted patients who are boarding in the ED in collaboration with ED physician.
Position Qualifications Include:
Must be able to independently treat ESI levels: 3, 4 & 5.
BLS and ACLS certification required.
Minimum of 3 years acute care experience required.
Current State of Illinois RN and APN licensure required.
Minimum of six months of clinical practice as an RN required.
Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing required.
Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner educational program.
Nurse Practitioner Certification from a National certifying body required.
Nurse Practitioner Certification from a National certifying body as either an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP), Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AG-ACNP)
Current State of Illinois Physician Assistant licensure required.
Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Studies training program required.
Current certification from National Certification Commission for Physician Assistants (NCCPA) required.
