Description Stony Brook University Department of Psychiatry is undergoing tremendous growth. Our adult outpatient psychiatry service is expanding and we are looking for individuals who welcome the challenge and satisfaction of providing outpatient psychiatric care to a diverse population and collaboration with a motivated group of clinicians, educators and researchers.
The clinician will serve as an Interventional Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in our Interventional Treatment Resistant Mood Disorders (TRMD) Program, part of the Adult Outpatient Psychiatry Program/Service. The Interventional NP/PA will conduct psychiatric evaluations, psychopharmacological interventions and non-pharmacological interventions such as: transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) therapy, ketamine therapies, vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) therapy, to treat patients with treatment-resistant mood disorders, as well as research opportunities with these novel treatment modalities. The Interventional Psychiatric NP/PA will conduct all interventions with direct supervision and oversight by the director of the TRMD Program, ensuring that the Interventional Psychiatric NP/PA has the knowledge, expertise, qualifications and competencies required to safely and competently conduct all interventions.
The Interventional Psychiatric NP/PA will perform shifts totaling 40 hours per week with cross coverage as necessary, will collaborate with all the other TRMD Program team members and staff, and will also provide education to staff and trainees. There are also opportunities for clinical research involving psychiatric patients and in collaboration with other departments.
Note: This is a full-time position.
Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Nurse Practitioner: ANCC Board Certification. New York State PMHNP (Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner) License.
